Regular Season Round 32: Guasave - Caborca 87-79
Date: May 24, 2014
Very predictable result when third ranked Frayles de Guasave (18-10) defeated at home 8th ranked Mineros de Caborca (8-20) 87-79. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 25-21 Mineros de Caborca's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 87-79 at the end of the game. The winners were led by American center DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) who scored that evening 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international guard Gabriel Giron (190-88) supported him with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 22 points and 9 rebounds by American guard Jermaine Watson (193-81, college: Boston Coll.) did not help to save the game for Mineros de Caborca. His fellow American import forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) added 20 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Frayles de Guasave maintains third position with 18-10 record having four points less than leader Hermosillo. Mineros de Caborca at the other side keeps the eighth place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Navolato. Frayles de Guasave will play against league's second-placed Tijuana Zonkeys on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mineros de Caborca will play against the league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
