Regular Season Round 33: Tijuana - Guasave 85-75

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tijuana. Second ranked Tijuana Zonkeys faced 3rd placed Frayles de Guasave. Host Tijuana Zonkeys (21-8) defeated guests from Guasave (18-11) 85-75. The game was mostly controlled by Tijuana Zonkeys. Frayles de Guasave was better in fourth quarter 23-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Frayles de Guasave 43-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Robert Hornsby (201-82, college: Troy) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. point guard Luis Ramirez (180-82) contributed with 25 points for the winners. American center DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Frayles de Guasave. Five Tijuana Zonkeys and four Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains second place with 21-8 record behind leader Hermosillo. Frayles de Guasave at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will again play against Frayles de Guasave (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Frayles de Guasave will have a break next round.
