There was no surprise when 7th ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (9-21) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (17-13) 70-66 on Wednesday. The game was dominated by American players. Guard William Funn (188-82, college: Portland St.) scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and CamRon Clay (203-82) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Funn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and forward Billy White (203-89, college: San Diego St.) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Pioneros Los Mochis have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 17-13 record. Ostioneros de Guaymas lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 21 games lost. They share the position with Caborca. Pioneros Los Mochis will meet league's second-placed Tijuana Zonkeys on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
