Fenerbahce cruised past Galatasaray in the TBL championship series opener. The game was mostly controlled by Fenerbahce Ulker. Galatasaray managed to win third quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fenerbahce Ulker dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Galatasaray's 32. They outrebounded Galatasaray 36-25 including a 32-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fenerbahce Ulker looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American-FYR Macedonian point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans) stepped up and scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and international Emir Preldzic (205-87, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side Puerto Rican point guard Carlos Arroyo (188-79, college: FIU, agency: Interperformances) responded with 7 points and 7 assists and the former international Furkan Aldemir (207-91, agency: Beo Basket) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
