Regular Season Round 1: Gansos - Correcaminos 81-88

An interesting game was also tough home loss of Gansos in a game in Ciudad de Mexico versus undefeated Correcaminos 88-81. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-81. It was a great shooting night for Correcaminos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. American swingman Ryan Holmes (198-82, college: Philander Smith) nailed 28 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Greg Smith (198, college: Colorado St., agency: Interperformances) accounted for 11 points and 5 rebounds. Holmes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Brandon Davis (193-88, college: LSU-Shreveport) came up with 25 points and 4 assists and international Oscar Alejandro Perez Zarco (205-85) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Gansos in the defeat. Four Gansos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Correcaminos will meet Soles in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gansos will have a break next round.
