Regular Season Round 1: Abejas - Fuerza Regia 93-100

Another exciting game for Fuerza Regia (1-0) which played in Guanajuato against Abejas (0-1). Fuerza Regia won 100-93. Abejas were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 47-39 second half run of Fuerza Regia. They dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Abejas' 54. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winners and Puerto Rican swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Fuerza Regia's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Fuerza Regia and five Abejas players scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia will play against Titanicos in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Abejas will play against Jefes to get more than just one victory in their record.
