Regular Season Round 3: Huracanes - Abejas 99-91

Date: September 30, 2014
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Tampico where Huracanes (2-2) beat Abejas (0-4) 99-91 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 35-24 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Huracanes made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Nigerian-American power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice, agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) helped adding 20 points and 6 rebounds. Five Huracanes players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) with 32 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Abejas' coach Armando Acosta rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Huracanes will meet at home Titanicos (#13) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Abejas will play against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and hope to get finally their first victory.
