Regular Season Round 3: Barreteros - Gansos 99-82

There was a small surprise in Zacatecas where Barreteros (1-2) defeated Gansos (1-2) 99-82 on Thursday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Barreteros outrebounded Gansos 43-23 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Gansos' players. It was a great evening for American Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). His fellow American import guard Jason Horton (188-86, college: Missouri) helped adding 16 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists. Horton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. The best for the losing side was international Oscar Alejandro Perez Zarco (205-85) with 19 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Brandon Davis (193-88, college: LSU-Shreveport) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Barreteros will meet at home Soles in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gansos will play against Panteras (#12) in Aguascalientes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
