Regular Season Round 1: Castello - Guadalajara 81-70

Date: October 4, 2014
Castello used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Guadalajara 81-70 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Castello. CB Guadalajara was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Castello forced 22 CB Guadalajara turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Castello especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Nick Washburn (208-91, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and guard Jose Maria Garcia (193-87) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. Washburn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Castello's coach Toni Ten used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Uruguayan-Greek forward Maximiliano Sole (198-88) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Alvaro Frutos (188-87) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Castello will face Zornotza in Amorebieta-Echano in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. CB Guadalajara will play at home against Meridiano Alicante and hope to win that game.
