There was a surprise result when Helsingborg (1-1) crushed Sanda Basket (0-1) in Huskvarna 74-53 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Helsingborg. Sanda Basket was better in fourth quarter 14-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sanda Basket to just 5 points in third quarter. Helsingborg forced 19 Sanda Basket turnovers. Sanda Basket was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Martin Fastberg (189-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points and 4 assists. Guard Anton Brandt (190-92) contributed with 9 points for the winners. Guard Albin Eriksson (189-96) replied with 14 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and forward Andreas Rudensten (197-96) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sanda Basket. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Helsingborg will face Brahe Basket (#5) in Huskvarna in the next round. Sanda Basket will play at home against Malbas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
