Regular Season Round 1: Unicaja - Andorra 83-69

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Andorra (0-1) on the court of Unicaja Malaga. Visitors were defeated by Unicaja Malaga 83-69. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Unicaja Malaga's pressure prevailed and they won that period 26-19 extending their advantage to 14 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Andorra's 26. The former international center Fran Vazquez (209-83) stepped up and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners and American guard Ryan Toolson (193-85, college: Utah Valley) chipped in 18 points. At the losing side Cape Verdean-Portuguese Joao Gomes (201-85) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and Bulgarian power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Unicaja Malaga will play against Laboral Kutxa in Vitoria in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Andorra will play at home against Bilbao Basket to get more than just one victory in their record.
