Regular Season Round 3: Penarol - Wuber-Est.Bahia 96-83
Date: October 7, 2014
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Mar del Plata where Wuber-Est.Bahia (2-2) was defeated by Penarol (2-1) 96-83 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-83. Penarol made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Wuber-Est.Bahia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was international swingman Adrian Boccia (195-82) who scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). point guard Fabian Sahdi (189-89) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists. Five Penarol players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Lisandro Rasio (198-90) who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Italian center Omar Canton (206-82) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Penarol will face Lanus (#8) in Buenos Aires in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Wuber-Est.Bahia will play at home against Lanus (#8) and hope to win that game.
