Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Titanicos (0-5) were defeated at home by eleventh ranked Barreteros (2-3) 94-90 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 27-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Barreteros shot 24 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Titanicos only scored eight points from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Titanicos were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) stepped up and scored 31 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard Jason Horton (188-86, college: Missouri) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Horton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Barreteros' coach Jesus Alba allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Isaiah Wilkerson (190-90, college: NJIT) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 assists and Jamaican-American forward Noelly Walters (202-79, college: Morehouse) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Barreteros moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Gigantes and Gansos. Titanicos lost their fifth game in a row. Titanicos at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with five games lost. Barreteros will face Abejas (#12) in Guanajuato in the next round.
