Date: October 11, 2014
Very expected game when Widzew (0-2) was smashed by Wisla Krakow (2-0) in Lodz 81-41 on Saturday. The game without a history. Wisla Krakow led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Widzew to just 6 points in third quarter. Wisla Krakow dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Widzew's 30. They outrebounded Widzew 46-23 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swedish Abdi Farhiya (188-92) notched 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American center Jantel Lavender (191-88, college: Ohio St.) supported her with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Wisla Krakow's coach Stefan Svitek felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 12 points by American power forward Sarah Boothe (195-90, college: Stanford) did not help to save the game for Widzew. Her fellow American import forward Cecilia Okoye (185, college: McNeese St.) added 8 points for the hosts. Wisla Krakow will meet at home MKK Siedlce in the next round. Widzew will play against Sleza Wroclaw and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
