Regular Season Round 1: Kumamoto V. - Wakayama T. 78-85

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Kumamoto V. (0-1) at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Wakayama T. (1-0) 85-78. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 27-23 Kumamoto V.'s run in the last quarter cut the lead to 85-78 at the end of the game. Wakayama T. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Kumamoto V.'s 38. American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds for the winning side and the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) accounted for 21 points and 6 assists. American swingman Garlon Green (201-91, college: TCU) came up with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Nigerian center Cyril Awere (211-85) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Kumamoto V. in the defeat. Kumamoto V.'s coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Wakayama T. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kumamoto V. will play again at home against Wakayama T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
