Regular Season Round 4: Cognac - Chartres 76-83

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Cognac BB (1-2) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked UB Chartres (2-2) 83-76 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-17. But Cognac BB won second period 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UB Chartres looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Bahamas forward Bennet Davis (206-84, college: Northeastern, agency: KMG Sports Management) fired 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Ricky Franklin (185-87, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 assists. Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Hugh Robertson (195-89, college: S.Florida) produced 10 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Samba Dia (201-84, college: MSU-West Plains) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. UB Chartres moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Cognac BB dropped to the eleventh position with two games lost. UB Chartres will face CFBB (#15) in Paris in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cognac BB will play on the road against GET Vosges (#9) in Golbey and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
