Very expected game in Vitoria where Laboral Kutxa (0-2) was defeated by Unicaja Malaga (2-0) 88-79 on Sunday. Laboral Kutxa trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 25-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-88 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Laboral Kutxa 37-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. Laboral Kutxa was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Ryan Toolson (193-85, college: Utah Valley) scored 15 points and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-89) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. French point guard Thomas Heurtel (188-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 assists and international swingman Fernando San Emeterio (198-84) scored 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Unicaja Malaga will face La Bruixa d'Or in Manresa in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Laboral Kutxa will play on the road against Andorra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
