Regular Season Round 4: Akita NH - Sendai 89ers 81-69

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Sendai 89ers (2-2) were defeated on the road by eighth ranked Akita Happinets (2-2) 81-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Akita Happinets. Sendai 89ers was better in fourth quarter 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and point guard Akitomo Takeno (173-85) who added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Akita Happinets' coach Makoto Hasegawa used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) responded with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: KMG Sports Management) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Akita Happinets moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Sendai 89ers. Akita Happinets will face Fukushima (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Sendai 89ers will play against Niigata Albirex (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
