There was no surprise in San Sebastian where Gipuzkoa (0-2) was defeated by Real Madrid (2-0) 90-76 on Sunday. The game without a history. Real Madrid led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Real Madrid outrebounded Gipuzkoa 33-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. The former international point guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) scored 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and international Sergio Llull (192-87) chipped in 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Daniel Diez (203-93) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Madrid will face FIATC Joventut in Badalona in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gipuzkoa will play on the road against Blusens Monbus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
