Regular Season Round 5: Quilmes MP - Boca Jrs 82-81

Eighth-ranked Boca Juniors (0-3) gave a tough game to second ranked Quilmes MP (4-1) in Mar del Plata. Quilmes MP managed to secure only one-point victory 82-81. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Boca Juniors took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Quilmes MP had a 25-12 second period charge getting the lead and Boca Juniors was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-82. Quilmes MP dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Boca Juniors' 24. American Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) nailed 24 points and 5 assists for the winning side and the former international point guard Luis Cequeira (180-85) accounted for 13 points and 4 assists. American center DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Jonatan Treise (186-85) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for Boca Juniors in the defeat. Five Quilmes MP and four Boca Juniors players scored in double figures. Quilmes MP have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 4-1 record behind leader Regatas C. Boca Juniors at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Quilmes MP will play against Ciclista in Juninense in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Boca Juniors' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Buenos Aires Lanus.
