Regular Season Round 4: Nitra - Levice 74-83

Bottom-ranked Nitra (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 83-74 loss to top-ranked Levice (3-0) in Nitra on Wednesday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nitra won third quarter 21-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Levice forced 19 Nitra turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian point guard Luka Igrutinovic (193-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and Croatian forward Eddi Jurjevic (202-93) who added 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Justin Ward (203-91, college: Lakeland) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Jakub Novysedlak (189-93) scored 24 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Levice have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 3-0 record behind leader Rieker KN. Loser Nitra still closes the standings with four games lost. Levice will meet at home Nova Ves in the next round. Nitra will play against Inter Bratislava and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
