Regular Season Round 7: Halc.Rojos - Abejas 80-71

Rather expected game when Abejas (2-5) lost to Halcones Rojos (4-2) in Veracruz 71-80 on Thursday. Abejas were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a very good performance for American guard Tu Holloway (182-89, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Halcones Rojos' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) answered with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import power forward Bilal Dixon (206-90, college: Towson) added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Abejas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos moved-up to fourth place. Loser Abejas dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Halcones Rojos will face bottom-ranked Titanicos in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Abejas will play against Halcones UV Xalapa and hope to win that game.
