Regular Season Round 2: Grindavik - Skallagrimur 106-75

Date: October 16, 2014
Grindavik (1-1) crushed at home Skallagrimur (0-2) by 31 points 106-75, which is the biggest margin this round on Thursday night. The game was mostly controlled by Grindavik. Skallagrimur managed to win second period 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Skallagrimur 51-38 including 36 on the defensive glass. Grindavik looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Skallagrimur's players. The best player for the winners was international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds. The former international forward Omar Saevarsson (198-82) chipped in 8 points and 19 rebounds. Four Grindavik players scored in double figures. American forward Tracey Smith (203-89, college: N.Carolina St.) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds and the former international swingman Pall Axel Vilbergsson (197-78) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Grindavik will meet Stjarnan on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Skallagrimur will play against Snaefell and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
