Regular Season Round 2: Breidablik - Hamar 70-85

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Breidablik (1-1) in Kopavogur on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Hamar (2-0) 85-70. The game was mostly controlled by Hamar. Breidablik managed to win second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamar dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Breidablik's 34. They outrebounded Breidablik 42-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. Forward Thorsteinn Gunnlaugsson (190-82) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Julian Nelson (190, college: Coker) chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Hamar players scored in double figures. Swingman Halldor Halldorsson (186-89) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Nate Garth (188-89, college: UCSB) scored 16 points. Hamar is looking forward to face FSU in Selfoss in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Breidablik will play on the road against Thor AK in Akureyri and is hoping to win this game.
