Regular Season Round 5: Fukushima - Akita NH 77-109

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Akita Happinets (4-2) smashed on the road 10th ranked Fukushima (1-5) 109-77 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Akita Happinets. Fukushima was better in fourth quarter 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Akita Happinets shot 62.1 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 68.4 percentage. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Fukushima's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Akita Happinets made 7 blocks. American players dominated also this game. The best player for the winners was forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) who scored 14 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks. Center Tyran Walker (213-89, college: Wake Forest) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds and guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) added 9 points and 11 assists respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They moved-up to third place. Fukushima lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
