Regular Season Round 2: Breakers - 36ers 101-80
Date: October 17, 2014
An exciting game was played in Auckland. New Zealand Breakers faced Adelaide 36ers. Host New Zealand Breakers (2-1) smashed guests from Findon (1-2) 101-80. The game was mostly controlled by New Zealand Breakers. Adelaide 36ers was better in fourth quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Adelaide 36ers 48-31 including 19 on the offensive glass. New Zealand guard Corey Webster (188-88, college: Lambuth, agency: Beo Basket) notched 23 points to lead the effort and American-Fijian forward Tai Wesley (200-86, college: Utah St.) supported him with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Even 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by international guard Adam Gibson (188-86) did not help to save the game for Adelaide 36ers. American point guard Jamar Wilson (185-84, college: Albany) added 15 points for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. New Zealand Breakers' next round opponent will be Cairns Taipans at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Adelaide 36ers will play against Wollongong Hawks and hope to win that game.
