Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Lille Metropole (1-2) and Poitiers (2-1), which took place in Lille. Lille Metropole was outleveled at home by Poitiers 97-66 on Friday. The game without a history. Poitiers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Lille Metropole's 26. They outrebounded Lille Metropole 44-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for point guard Carl Ona-Embo (185-89) who led his team to a victory with 32 points and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (203-90, college: Oklahoma) contributed with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Poitiers' coach Rudy Nelhomme felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (204-85) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Lille Metropole. Poitiers will face Aix-Maurienne in Aix-les-Bains in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Lille Metropole will play on the road against Monaco and hope to win that game.
