Regular Season Round 6: Norrkoping - Umea 88-65
Date: October 17, 2014
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Norrkoping Dolphins (3-1) smashed at home 9th ranked Umea (1-5) 88-65 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 15 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 23 points. Norrkoping Dolphins dominated on the defensive end, holding Umea to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Umea's 28 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Umea 37-22 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Norrkoping Dolphins made 8 blocks. The former international center Joakim Kjellbom (212-79, college: N.Arizona) had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and Polish center Pawel Mroz (214-84) chipped in 13 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. Five Norrkoping Dolphins players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American power forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard, agency: Court Side) with 27 points and 6 rebounds and guard Albin Frank (188-90) scored 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Norrkoping Dolphins have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 3-1 record, which they share with LF Basket. Umea lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. Norrkoping Dolphins will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Umea will play against Nassjo (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
