Regular Season Round 1: Bulleen B. - Canberra C. 62-69

An interesting game was played in Melbourne where Canberra Capitals beat host Bulleen Boomers 69-62 on Friday evening. Bulleen Boomers were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Bulleen Boomers 46-18 including a 34-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. International center Abby Bishop (189-88) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and international guard Stephanie Talbot (188-94) chipped in 12 points and 13 rebounds. Five Canberra Capitals players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) responded with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and international center Natalie Burton (193-89, college: W.Virginia) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Canberra Capitals will meet Bendigo Spirit on the road in the next round. Bulleen Boomers will play against Bendigo Spirit and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
