Regular Season Round 1: Angers - Arras 61-66

An interesting game where Arras beat host Angers 66-61 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Angers won fourth quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Angers 43-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Canadian forward Michelle Plouffe (193-92, college: Utah) chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Rebecca Tobin (195-88, college: Arizona St.) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian forward Lizanne Murphy (185-84, college: Hofstra) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Arras will meet Bourges on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Angers will play against Basket Landes and hope to win that game.
