Regular Season Round 5: Gunma - Iwate Big Bulls 58-69

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Gunma (0-3) was defeated at home by second ranked Iwate Big Bulls (4-1) 69-58 on Saturday. The game without a history. Iwate Big Bulls led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gunma to just 6 points in first quarter. Iwate Big Bulls forced 21 Gunma turnovers. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Melvin Ely (208-78, college: Fresno St.) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Gunma's coach Charlie Parker gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Iwate Big Bulls. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Gunma lost their third game in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will have a break next round. Gunma will play again at home against the league's leader Iwate Big Bulls (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
