Regular Season Round 3: Alpo VR - Biassono 57-40

There was a minor upset in Verona where Biassono (1-2) was defeated by Alpo VR (1-1) 57-40 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 57-40. Alpo VR dominated on the defensive end, holding Biassono to just 4 points in third quarter and to 14 points in second half. Alpo VR forced 22 Biassono turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Giulia Monica (169-87) who scored 20 points and 6 steals. Swingman Susanna Toffali (170-98) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Alessia Colombo (186-93) who recorded 9 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Laura Rossi (166-97) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Alpo VR will face Cagliari A. on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Biassono will play against Team Crema and hope to win that game.
