Regular Season Round 4: Nowa Sol - Kalisz 79-91

There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Nowa Sol (2-2) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Kalisz (2-2) 91-79 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 30-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Kalisz dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Nowa Sol's 30. Kalisz forced 24 Nowa Sol turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Pawel Piros (185-88, agency: Promotex) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 4 steals and forward Blazej Rabe (199-90) who added 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. At the losing side Maciej Kucharek (204-93) responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and center Rafal Rajewicz (204-88, agency: Promotex) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nowa Sol's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kalisz moved-up to fourth place in Group D, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Nowa Sol. Kalisz will face Sudety (#4) in Jelenia Gora in the next round. Nowa Sol will play on the road against Slask 2 Wroclaw and hope to win that game.
