Regular Season Round 5: Aomori Watts - Yokohama BC 68-75

Top ranked Aomori Watts (3-2) recorded its second loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Yokohama BC (3-2) 75-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aomori Watts. Aomori Watts trailed by 15 points at halftime and as many as 17 after three quarters before a 25-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 68-75 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Warren Niles (196-89, college: ORU, agency: KMG Sports Management) who scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. British power forward Dzaflo Larkai (203-81, college: Bellarmine) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds and Kenichi Takahashi (181-80) added 11 points and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Aomori Watts' coach Koshirashi Munakata rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Yokohama BC moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Aomori Watts. Yokohama BC will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aomori Watts will play again at home against Yokohama BC (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
