Rather expected game when Alghero (0-1) was defeated at home by San Giovanni (2-0) 75-57 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-57. San Giovanni forced 20 Alghero turnovers. The best player for the winners was point guard Francesca Gambarini (168-95, agency: Players Group) who scored 17 points and 7 assists. The former international guard Giulia Arturi (175-87, agency: Players Group) chipped in 17 points. San Giovanni's coach Cinzia Zanotti used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian power forward Erica Sanchez (182-76) who recorded 23 points and 6 rebounds and Israeli forward Delia Gagliano (180-97) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively. San Giovanni will face Genova on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Alghero will play against San Salvatore and hopes to get finally their first victory.
