Regular Season Round 1: Landes - Villeneuve 59-54
Date: October 19, 2014
Basket Landes used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Villeneuve 59-54. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 13-11. But Villeneuve D'Ascq won second period 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Danielle Page (188-86, college: Nebraska) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and Latvian forward Gunta Basko-Melnbarde (181-80, college: Siena, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 12 points and 6 rebounds. International forward Laetitia Kamba (187-87) came up with 15 points and 5 rebounds and the former international power forward Marielle Amant (190-89) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Villeneuve D'Ascq in the defeat. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Basket Landes' next round opponent will be COB Calais at home. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play against Flammes Carolo in Charleville and hope to win that game.
