Very important is a road loss of third ranked Prievidza (4-2) against seventh ranked Handlova (2-4) on Wednesday night. Visiting Prievidza was defeated by Handlova in a tough game in Handlova 66-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Prievidza. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 34-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Croatian swingman Luka Drezga (196-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Preston Purifoy (196-92, college: UAB) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Croatian forward Igor Maric (194-85) who recorded 17 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian power forward Milos Miljkovic (205-84) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Handlova moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Nova Ves. Loser Prievidza dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Iskra Svit. Handlova will meet SKP Banska Bystrica on the road in the next round. Prievidza will have a break next round.
