Regular Season Round 9: Abejas - Pioneros 80-100

Very expected game in Guanajuato where 10th ranked Abejas (3-6) were rolled over by sixth ranked Pioneros (6-3) 100-80 on Thursday. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 65.0 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Pioneros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) who scored 23 points. The former international swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 18 points. Four Pioneros players scored in double figures. Pioneros' coach Manuel Cintron used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) who recorded 22 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Jermaine Johnson (201-85, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively. Pioneros moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Halc.Xalapa. Loser Abejas dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Pioneros will face bottom-ranked Titanicos (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Abejas will play against Gigantes and hope to win that game.
