Rather expected game when Wollongong Hawks (1-5) were smashed by Adelaide 36ers (2-2) in Findon 94-73 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-73. Adelaide 36ers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Wollongong Hawks' 36. It was a great shooting night for Adelaide 36ers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for international guard Adam Gibson (188-86) who led the winners and scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international center Luke Schenscher (216-82, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) accounted for 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Adelaide 36ers players scored in double figures. American point guard Gary Ervin (183-83, college: Arkansas) came up with 26 points and 4 assists and the former international center Luke Nevill (218-86, college: Utah) added 12 points respectively for Wollongong Hawks in the defeat. Wollongong Hawks' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Adelaide 36ers will meet at home New Zealand Breakers in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wollongong Hawks will play against United in Melbourne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
