There was a minor upset when Dandenong Rangers (1-2) lost on the road to Adelaide Lightning (1-1) 68-63 on Thursday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. International center Laura Hodges (191-83) notched 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American swingman Kathleen Scheer (187-89, college: Duke) supported her with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Even 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists by American guard Cappie Pondexter (175-83, college: Rutgers) did not help to save the game for Dandenong Rangers. Forward Tegan Cunningham (185-88, college: Oklahoma St.) added 19 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Adelaide Lightning will meet Sydney Uni Flames on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Dandenong Rangers will play against Canberra Capitals and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
