Regular Season Round 3: Valur - Hottur 78-64

Hottur (3-1) recorded a loss in Reykjavik. Visitors were defeated by Valur (2-1) 78-64. The game was mostly controlled by Valur. Hottur was better in fourth quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for forward Illugi Audunsson (196-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Danero Thomas (193-86, college: Murray St.) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Valur's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post) answered with 27 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and forward Hreinn Birgisson (190-89) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Hottur. Valur will play against IA in Akranes in the next round. Hottur will play at home against Hamar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
