Regular Season Round 3: KFI - IA 70-71

A very close game took place in Isafjordur between IA and KFI. IA (2-1) got a very close victory on the road over KFI (0-4). IA managed to escape with a 1-point win 71-70 on Friday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But KFI won third quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely KFI outrebounded IA 45-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for point guard Askell Jonsson (188-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Fannar Helgason (202-84) helped adding 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four IA players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Birgir Petursson (205-86) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 23 rebounds and Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. IA will meet at home Valur in the next round. KFI will play against Thor AK in Akureyri and hopes to get finally their first victory.
