Regular Season Round 5: Hitachi SR - Toshiba BT 85-92 OT

Hitachi Sunrockers (5-1) recorded its first loss in Tokyo. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Toshiba Thunders (1-3) in overtime 92-85. It looked good early as Hitachi Sunrockers took an 15-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toshiba Thunders took control winning two of next three quarters and eventually winning the game that evening in overtime by 7 points. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and the former international point guard Hiroyuki Kinoshita (178-80) added 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Five Toshiba Thunders and four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Toshiba Thunders went down to sixth position due to points difference. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side still keep top place with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
