Regular Season Round 4: Palencia - Palma 89-66
Date: October 24, 2014
Rather expected game when 5th ranked Palma (2-2) was crushed on the road by top-ranked Palencia Baloncesto (3-0) 89-66 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Palencia Baloncesto. Palma was better in fourth quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Palma 40-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Palencia Baloncesto looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Palma's players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Daniel Rodriguez (182-84) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists and power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Palencia Baloncesto's coach Nacho Lezkano felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Italian guard Pablo Bertone (193-90, college: Florida Atlantic) responded with 23 points and American forward Shawn Glover (201-90, college: ORU) scored 18 points. Palencia Baloncesto have a solid three-game winning streak. Palencia Baloncesto maintains second position with 3-0 record behind leader Breogan, which they share with Valladolid. Newly promoted Palma dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. Palencia Baloncesto will face Prat (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Palma will play against Lleida Basquet (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
