Top ranked Fuerza Regia (7-2) recorded its second loss in Monterrey on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by fourth ranked Halcones Rojos (6-2) 97-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. The game without a history. Halcones Rojos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Fuerza Regia's 46. They outrebounded Fuerza Regia 38-22 including 28 on the defensive glass. Halcones Rojos looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Jesus Gonzalez (195-86) who scored 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international center Rodrigo Zamora (206-86, college: Montana St.) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who recorded 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Gabriel Giron (190-88) added 10 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Halcones Rojos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Fuerza Regia at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Soles. Halcones Rojos are looking forward to face Jefes (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Fuerza Regia will play against Halcones UV Xalapa (#4) and is hoping to win this game.
