Very important is a road loss of third ranked DCU Saints (2-2) against fourth ranked Neptune Cork (2-3) on Saturday night. Visiting DCU Saints were crushed by Neptune Cork in Cork 92-66. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of DCU Saints. They outrebounded DCU Saints 68-48 including a 52-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. Neptune Cork looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Nigel Byam (201-87, college: St.Francis, NY) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds and international forward Michael Bonaparte (196-82, college: Coll.of the Ozarks) who added 16 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international center Martins Provizors (202-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and international guard Eoin Chubb (188-90) scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Neptune Cork went down to seventh position due to points difference. Loser DCU Saints dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with UCD Marian and Dublin Inter. Neptune Cork will meet Templeogue in the next round. DCU Saints will have a break next round.
