Regular Season Round 5: GTK Gliwice - Zaglebie 60-96

Zaglebie's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they outplayed much higher ranked GTK Gliwice (2-3)on the road game in Gliwice 96-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Zaglebie led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Zaglebie forced 21 GTK Gliwice turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Zaglebie made 8 blocks. Pawel Bogdanowicz (197-87) nailed 22 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and the former international Marcin Kosinski (186-85) accounted for 17 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Zaglebie players scored in double figures. point guard Tomasz Wrobel (186-85) came up with 15 points and power forward Wojciech Fras (203-91) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for GTK Gliwice in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zaglebie (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with AZS PP and Rosa II Radom. GTK Gliwice at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Zaglebie will meet at home higher ranked Astoria Bydg. (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GTK Gliwice will play against SKK Siedlce and hope to secure a win.
