Regular Season Round 3: Crocodiles - United 92-81

Townsville Crocodiles used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Melbourne 92-81 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Townsville Crocodiles. United managed to win second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Townsville Crocodiles dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to United's 38. They outrebounded United 44-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. Townsville Crocodiles looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. International swingman Clint Steindl (200-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Townsville Crocodiles players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Mark Worthington (203-83, college: Metro St.) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for United in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Townsville Crocodiles will meet at home Perth Wildcats in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. United will play against Wollongong Hawks and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
