Regular Season Round 1: Sokhumi - Rustavi 68-84

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Sokhumi (0-1) in Tbilisi on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Energy Invest (1-0) 84-68. The game was mostly controlled by Energy Invest. Sokhumi managed to win third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Energy Invest dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Sokhumi's 32. They outrebounded Sokhumi 51-39 including 37 on the defensive glass. Energy Invest looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International Akaki Dvalishvili (206-91, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and guard Levan Tsekvava (190-89) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Energy Invest players scored in double figures. At the losing side international forward Irakli Chlaidze (199-89) responded with 17 points and 4 assists and forward Giorgi Jgerenaia (206-90, college: N.Georgia) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Energy Invest is looking forward to face MIA in Tbilisi in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sokhumi's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Olimpi.
