Regular Season Round 5: Mitsubishi DD - Wakayama T. 99-75

Round 5 in NBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Nagoya where host Mitsubishi Dolphins (4-1) crushed league's leader Wakayama T. (3-2) 99-75 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Mitsubishi Dolphins led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) who scored 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Mitsubishi Dolphins' coach Trifon Poch felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and guard Yuu Abe (180-84) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Mitsubishi Dolphins keep a position of league leader, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Wakayama T. at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Tochigi Brex and Hiroshima D.. They were replaced at the leadership position by Hitachi SR. Wakayama T. will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Mitsubishi Dolphins will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Wakayama T. at home.
